Laurent is an international banker and former CEO with more than 20 years in international business experience. He has been the CEO of several global investment companies, a fund manager and has raised more than US$3 billion of equity and US$5 billion in debt during his career. He is a specialist in the energy and power sectors and has led the financing of numerous power plant projects all over the world, particularly in Central Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Laurent is considered as a world class expert in Islamic Finance. Laurent was recently Senior Adviser at Dentons US LLP, and Deputy CEO of Taylor-DeJongh, a leading US investment banking firm specialized in the financing of major energy and infrastructure projects. Before joining Taylor-DeJongh, Laurent was CEO of Amwal, a leading Qatari Investment bank controlled by QIA, QNB, Qatar Foundation and the Royal Family of Qatar. During this period, in 2008, Laurent led several multi billion dollars project financing for Qatar Gas, Qatar Petroleum, and other international oil companies. Laurent organized as well the structuring and raising of a US$227 million Sharia compliant mezzanine fund to finance a quasi-equity tranche for the completion of the financing of an energy project. Laurent has been a Managing Director at Dubai Islamic Bank, one of the leading Islamic banks. During this period, he was the Fund Manager of the Dubai Global Energy Fund, an energy MENA and Africa private equity fund.
