
Before joining Avigilon in 2014, Mr. Michael Shen, also known as Mike, served as General Manager of Asia Pacific at ObjectVideo, Inc in Virginia. Mr. Shen is responsible for leading regional sales and channel management efforts in collaboration with ObjectVideo's global partners. He joined ObjectVideo in 2007. Mr. Shen has worked extensively in the global telecommunications and broadband sectors, and is a seasoned professional with experience in global markets, with a particular emphasis in the Asian sphere.
Mr. Shen early career involved eight years in mass communications and as a deputy Editor-in-Chief at Young China Daily, a highly reputable newspaper in San Francisco’s Chinese Community. After that, he served as a Vice President of GigaBeam, a wireless broadband provider. He then was a Vice President of China Office at Interlink Capital Strategies headquarters in Washington DC. In 1995, he founded Global On-Line Communications in Utah. Mr. Shen was among those that pioneered the research and development in wireless Internet communications.
Joining forces with Cisco and Breezecom, Mr. Shen integrated the first Wi-Fi pilot Hot Spot working model in 1998. In 2001, he joined ioWave, Inc., a fixed wireless broadband equipment manufacture, as its Director of the Asian region. Mr. Shen is experienced in business negotiations in the broad Asian region that covers China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and India. He serves as a leader and bridge between different business cultures and his service has been recognized by companies such as AT&T, MCI WorldCom, Sprint PCS, China Mobile, China Telecom, Chung Hwa Telecom, Far East Tone, PCCW, TimeDotCom, Global Telecom, SingTel, and Indosat.
He was the annual Overseas Chinese Professional Award Winner in 1987. Mr. Shen received a B.S. in Printing & Media Engineering from Chinese Culture University in Taipei, Taiwan and graduate study in Mass Communications from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
