
Mr. Nelson was a founding partner of AALC’s predecessor, Armitage Associates L.C. In addition to managing his firm, his private sector activities include: advising and assisting US and foreign companies in international operations; advising and assisting U.S. companies in utilizing US Government resources such as the US Export Import Bank, Oversea Private Investment Corporation, and other forms of assistance from the Departments of State, Defense, other departments and agencies; assisting directly in the successful sale of $200 million of U.S. Ex-Im Bank financed agricultural equipment; defining market opportunities and strategies throughout Asia for US and foreign companies to include Thailand, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, etc.; providing reputation based due diligence and political analysis for companies considering overseas projects; and advising U.S. firms on activities with international multilateral institutions such as the World Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Mr. Nelson previously held senior operational and policy positions as a career military officer and as a senior executive for the Department of State. Mr. Nelson retired from active military service in September 1991.Mr. Nelson attended Cornell University, graduating in 1969.
